Moderator: Sherwood Smith, Sr. Executive Director for Inclusive Excellence & UVM Professor. His work involves professional development training for faculty and staff, conducting research and teaching graduate courses in Educational Foundations and undergraduate courses in Human Development & Family Studies. Most recently he co-edited a two part series titled: Our Stories: the Experience of Black Professionals on Predominantly White Campuses. He enjoys cooking, bicycling, fencing and is an amateur herpetologist.
Panelist: Phil Morin, the Fleming Museum’s Manager of Campus and Community Engagement. First working at the Fleming over a decade ago as a student intern, he helped conduct an inventory of the collection and assisted with the early development of the museum’s database. When the opportunity arose to return in 2021, he sprang at the chance to rejoin the Fleming's staff, working first in the Learning Studio and then as the museum’s Guest Service Coordinator. In his current role as Manager of Campus and Community Engagement, he organizes learning opportunities and programming for K-12 students and teachers, college students and faculty, and community visitors of all ages.
Panelist: John G. Crock, the Associate Professor of Anthropology at UVM and the Director of the University of Vermont Consulting Archaeology Program (UVM CAP). John teaches a range of courses that explore the archaeological heritage of indigenous people and the history of American archaeology. As Director of the UVM CAP, John oversees archaeological studies required by state and federal regulations. In addition to field studies in Vermont and the broader northeast, he also is involved with ongoing research in the Caribbean.
