Lock Haven improves to 1-1 on the year, while Vermont falls to 0-2.

Brittney Hickernell got the scoring started with an unassisted tally just over 30 minutes into the contest. Stephanie Whiteman sent a shot towards goal, which was initially stopped by Vermont goalie
Emily Snowden. Hickernell was able to collect the rebound and find the back of the net to give Lock Haven the 1-0 lead.

Vermont's best scoring opportunity came late in the first half off a penalty corner. Freshman
Taylor Gaines received a pass from the corner and knocked it along to senior
Ashley McDonald. McDonald blasted a shot from the top of the circle that went just wide of the post.

The Lady Eagles widened their lead to 2-0 in the 48
th minute on Nakira Downes' first goal of the season. The junior marched towards the Vermont net on a breakaway and fired a shot just inside the post to give Lock Haven a two-goal advantage.

Lock Haven added an insurance tally with just six minutes remaining on Megan Wenrich's first goal of the year. The score gave the Lady Eagles a 3-0 advantage, as they went on to secure their first win of the season.

Elaina White stopped two shots to earn the victory in net for Lock Haven.
Emily Snowden took the loss despite making three saves for Vermont. Freshman
Lena Benwood played the final six-plus minutes in goal for her Catamount debut.

Vermont travels to Hanover, New Hampshire for a neutral site game versus Pacific on Thursday (Sept. 4) at 12:30 p.m.
