BURLINGTON, Vt. – Cioffi Men's Basketball Head Coach
John Becker has announced his newest additions to the Vermont roster for the upcoming 2021-22 season. The Catamounts add five guards, including three first-years and two transfers.

These five newcomers join an experienced Catamount group with 12 players returning from the 2020-21 season. Vermont returns all of its forwards from a season ago. Coming back to Catamount Country is 83% of the UVM's scoring from a season ago, led by reigning America East Player of the Year

The newcomers include:
Sam Alamutu
6-2 • 215 • G • FY • Ajax, Ontario • Rothesay Netherwood School
"I'm really excited about Sam. I think he has a chance to be a special player for us. Physically gifted with a strong work ethic. He is a great kid and I expect him to be another great player from Canada," said Becker.
- Spent the last three seasons with Rothesay Netherwood School in New Brunswick where he was a team captain and named team's MVP
- Averaged 18.0 points, 11.6 rebounds, 4.0 assists, and 2.3 steals per game as a junior before COVID shutdown
- Ranked as a top-5 Canadian recruit in 2021 and was considered one of the top rebounding guards in the country
Kam Gibson
6-3 • 190 • G • Sr. • Cincinnati, Ohio • Walnut Hills H.S./Western Carolina
"Kam is a talented scorer. He plays at his own pace and has a nice feel for the game. He should be able to step in and have a significant role right away," said Becker.
- Transfers to Vermont after three seasons at Western Carolina where he averaged 10.4 points and 2.1 rebounds per game, as well as a 39.0% three-point percentage
- Named to the SoCon All-Freshman Team in 2018-19 and logged a career-high 34 points at SMU as a rookie
- Sophomore season was cut short due to injury, returned as a junior and averaged 6.1 points and 1.9 rebounds per game
Evan Guillory
6-2 • 208 • G • FY • Springfield, Mo. • New Hampton School
"Evan is another gifted athlete. Having played for my former graduate assistant Andy Gale at New Hampton has helped his transition. He is a terrific defender and super competitive. Evan and Sam are the future of the program," said Becker.
- Joins the Catamounts after earning a NEPSAC Championships with New Hampton School
- Averaged 20.0 points, 6.0 rebounds, and 2.0 assists per game a season ago.
- Ranked fifth in the New England Class of 2021, per New England Recruiting Report
Michel Ndayishimiye
5-10 • 180 • G • FY • Burlington, Vt. • Rice Memorial
"Michel is coming off a decorated career at Rice. I think he has a chance to have a good career for us. He will redshirt this year to allow him time to adjust to the college game. I've been impressed with his competitiveness," said Becker.
- A two-time Vermont Mr. Basketball and 2021 Vermont Gatorade Player of the Year
- Led Rice Memorial High School to consecutive Vermont Division I State Championships (2020, 2021)
- Averaged 29.6 points, 5.9 rebounds, and 5.8 assists per game as a senior
Finn Sullivan
6-4 • 195 • G • Sr. • San Diego, Calif. • Torrey Pines H.S./San Diego
"Finn has great size and is a very skilled guard. He has a great feel for the game on both ends. He will be able to play multiple positions and will have a big role on this year's team. Finn and Kam should provide scoring from the backcourt," said Becker.
- Transfers to Vermont after three seasons at the University of San Diego where he averaged 6.0 points and 2.2 rebounds per game
- Averaged 6.9 points, 2.3 rebounds, and 2.7 assists per game a season ago
- Registered 16 points on the road at No. 1 Gonzaga in 2021
